I'm looking forward to the NM Educators Conference. The CCSS are such a timely issue. I hope to gain a greater understanding of what they are and how they will impact education in NM. I know that some of our schools have piloted them this year. Principals/teachers of pilot schools, what have you learned about CCSS?

ReplyDeleteThe NM Educator's Conference 2012 got off to a strong start with David Griffith and Hanna Skandera. David provided an overview and historical perspective of Common Core State Standards (CCSS). He also provided a list of challenges for implementing CCSS. One of Hanna's comments that really started me thinking was the idea of letting go of the adult issues that divide us as educators and emphasizing the children/student issues that we can all agree on. What are some of the adult issues that divide us? Do any of them connect with CCSS? Should we, indeed, let go of them? What are the children/student issues that we agree on? How can we maximize them? How are they connected to CCSS? What do YOU think? This is your presentation - your contribution to the conference (and we can all attend).
